Todays's Walk with the Lord - How Much He Loves Us

Good Morning,

On my drive home from work today I decided to jam with Skillet. I had not listened to them in a while, so I cranked it. One of my favorite songs is “Whispers in the Dark” off of their Comatose CD. One of the lines in the song is:

“When Darkness comes, I will light the night with stars”

That made me think of the Universe. The Billions of stars, which live in the Billions of Galaxies.

Think about that for a moment.

Have you ever seen a Billion of ANYTHING? Maybe if you walk on a beach and see all the grains of sand, you may be looking at a few billion grains of sand on an entire beach.

Imagine all the drops of water in our oceans. There are billions and trillions there.

But in our universe, there are a billion billion stars.

And God made them for us.

Think about that. He made them for us.  The constellations are for us. The stars are for us.

And the God who crafted the entire universe did something even greater for us.

He has a Son. Equally powerful and able to do what He does. This Son could create stars and galaxies too.

The Lord let this Son come to earth and live with us and die on a cross for us.

It is amazing how much God loves us.

We are truly blessed to have Him.

Todays Walk - Knowing God's Will in our Daily Life

Good Morning,

I have struggled with understanding what God wants for me to do in my life. From what I have read and those I have spoken to, this is a common concern and challenge.

A few days ago, during my prayer walk, (walking our dog Bo) I was praying on this concern when a thought entered my mind.

I have heard thought this before, and overlooked it for its simplicity. In fact, I think many of us overcomplicate understanding what God wants for us.

The thought is, before I do any action, I simply ask myself, “Do this bring Glory to God?” If the answer is no, then don’t do it. If the answer is yes, then do it.

·         Does walking the Dog bring Glory to God. Yes, as I fulfill my stewardship role to my family and in my care, I honor God.

·         Does doing a good job at work bring Glory to God. Yes, as I show my love for the Lord by doing my best for him, and give the world an example of Christ-like behavior.

·         Does looking through the swimsuit issue of sports illustrated bring Glory to God. No. It puts our attention on the lures of the world, rather than on HIS kingdom.

Now that I got that down, my next step is to actually stop and ask these questions more often during the day.

Enjoy!

Sanford
